IEEE won't update bibliography

Hi! I had a repeat citation, so I removed and changed all the other citations so that they matched (i.e., they're all citing the same document now). However, the bibliography won't update as it should.

No matter how many times I click refresh it either;
a) Keeps the repeat citation in the bibliography
or
b) Removes it, but doesn't change the numbers below

So it either shows a document that I don't cite or it shows something like this:

[14] words
[16] words

Any idea how to fix this?

    You should've merged those citations and could've avoided this problem, I think.

    Anyway, you will have some remnants of that citation in your document.
    Turn on field codes and look for the stray citation and remove any remnants. Then a refresh of the bibliography should work. https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/word_field_codes

    You can first also try to just switch to an author-date style (Cite them right for example) and back to IEEE first.
