Edit Bibliography-Option

The "Edit Bibliography" is not use friendly. On the right side where all of the references are listed, I have to scroll. I'd like to be able to do an active search as well so that I'm not duplicating references. I can't even tell how it is sorted.
  • Could you say how/why you're using that? The typical scenario would be that you use this quite rarely -- specifically for items not cited that you want in the bibliography or for cited items you don't want in there.

But, e.g., for duplicated references, you could just use the actual inserted bibliography and if there are duplicates you'd ideally then merge them in your library, not use edit bibliography to remove one, which can have all sorts of weird side-effects.
  • I use it because if I reference an article ie "According to Brandon (2019)..." that would require me to go into the Edit Bibliography feature and add the article to my list of references.
  • No, don't do that. You'd write "Brandon" in Word, then use omit author in the Word add-on and inserts the citation, which gives you (2019) and makes sure it's in the list of references.

  • Oh! Got it. Can I also have the link to merge citations? I have a few that are appearing as duplications with a (CitationA) and (CitationB) but are exactly the same.
  • https://www.zotero.org/support/duplicate_detection assuming they're both in your library. It'd be important to merge them, not just delete one (which will then stick around the Word doc detached from the Zotero item)
