Can I turn on "Show Annotation Colors" by default?

Currently (Zotero 6), I can click on the 3 dots and choose "Show Annotation Colors". Is there a way to turn this on by default (i.e. the colours are shown when I open the note with the annotations without additional clicks)?

I didn't find anything in the Config editor...
  • Not currently, but we're planning to make that a setting.

I would also love to see this.

For the people who want this, would it be sufficient for the option to just remember its last state across all notes, or would you want to control this per-note with a setting for the default in new notes?
  • Last state across all notes would work for me.
  • @dstillman: yes, that seems like a reasonable compromise. Not ideal, but I'll take what I can get.

@dstillman to remember last setting would already be very useful. I would ideally like to be able to edit/choose setting for notes in bulk. Selecting multiple notes and being able to set "show/hide annotation color" to all at once.

In fact, for my personal workflow, it would be very useful to be able to manage notes in bulks - for example, being able to duplicate more than one note at a time.
Thanks a lot for your work and help!

A little context. I tend to highlight quotes and drag them over to notes. My own notes are never highlighted. Quotes almost always are. The highlighting allows me to see at a glance if I'm looking at a quote or my own note, because I frequently have both within a Zotero note. Seeing a highlighted quote is a great protection against plagiarism.
