Any suggestions regarding Webdav?

Now that pCloud has stopped webdav service for non paying accounts, is there an workable alternative for someone with a large library of PDF files (>5G and > 5000 items) ? Tried 4Shared but was hit by the 5000 item limitation. Many thanks.
  • You could try self-hosting with a Synology NAS devices. The operating system is fairly user friendly. You can install their WebDAV server, and set up DDNS (YOURURL.synology.me) address that you can connect over the webDAV port (ex. YOURURL.synology.me:5006.

Benefit is that you get terabytes of storage for cheap, and can have a daily backups with another application. And if your really paranoid, you can also back up to the cloud.

Most likely, you could also try onedrive, with some configuration

  • Thanks sahil48.

The WinSCP solution appears working only with windows systems? Mac and iOS devices would struggle.

Synology is a great idea. Not having such a device at home, I wonder how doable is it to setup a WebDAV server on a virtual private server running a linux system?
