Error when adding more than one citation in Word for Mac in a single footnote

After updating to Zotero 6, when I try to add a second, separate citation in a footnote, there would be an error: “Zotero experienced an error updating your document. Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?”
  • Have you restarted Word after the update?

If so, can you provide a Report ID?
  • I have restarted Word after the update.

    Report ID: 1535297341

    Thank you!

[JavaScript Error: "The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error -1728.) @[checkFieldIntegrity:field.m:156]" {file: "file:///Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/extensions/zoteroMacWordIntegration@zotero.org/components/zoteroMacWordIntegration.js" line: 264}]
Does it work in a new document?

If so, see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents for identifying the problematic section of your existing document (which you can send to us, as explained there).
  • Thank you.
I can reproduce the error in new Word documents. If the footnote is not the last footnote in the document, then adding the second citation in that footnote would trigger this error.
In other words, there will be no error when the footnote is the only footnote or the last footnote in the document.
    Thank you.

Yep, thanks — we've reproduced this and should have a fix soon, probably tomorrow. Sorry for the trouble.
  • Great! Thank you!
  • This should be fixed now in Zotero 6.0.1, available via Help → Check for Updates.
  • Yes, thank you!
