Connector failing

The Chrome plugin has stopped working.
I've tried reinstalling Zotero and the plugin.
I'm getting the following in the debug logs, any ideas?

(1)(+0000002): NS_ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Exception: Component returned failure code: 0x804b000d (NS_ERROR_CONNECTION_REFUSED) [nsIServerSocket.init] Zotero.Server</this.init@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/server.js:64:7 _initFull<@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/zotero.js:691:9

(3)(+0000000): Not initializing HTTP server
  • Restart your computer.
  • I did try that, apologies for not including it in the original report.

If you're still getting the error after that, something else is likely taking up port 23119 (unless you've changed extensions.zotero.httpServer.port in the Config Editor). How to check would depend on what OS this is.
  • Strange, as the port isn't showing in netstat.
If I change the port, will the plugin still work or will that need reconfiguring in some way?
  • You'd have to change the port in the Connector preferences as well.

But if you don't see anything in netstat, you can start by just changing the port and seeing if it initializes. If not, something else (security software?) is somehow blocking Zotero from binding to the port.
  • Cheers, I'll give that a try
  • Many apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
A port change fixed it, much appreciated!
