Multiple files in entries

I just noticed that my entries have duplicated files.

I have no idea why this happens, but could it be related to sync-ing the group to zotero?

Any ideas are welcome!

    Did you merge duplicates? That doesn't delete duplicate files currently

    I guess I merged a lot of papers based on the collection “duplicate items”.

    I just merged another one and looks like "merging" is the problem:

    How do you suggest I should proceed in the future? Not merging anymore?
    I have like over 2000 papers, so if possible I would like to avoid going through them manually.

    In an upcoming version, Zotero will automatically remove files that are identical when merging. Files that are different (e.g., with watermarks or generated first pages) will remain separate.

    That sounds great! With “upcoming version” you mean 6?

    I backed some notebooks to merge the files without duplicating the pdf files.
