Is there, somewhere, a pdf copy of the whole documentation, that one could download and read on a tablet sitting in an armchair?

There are some third-party books that might give you a more narrative introduction, which other people might be able to recommend, but we update and refine the documentation section of this site constantly, and that's the authoritative reference for Zotero. I would recommend starting by simply browsing around those pages.
