"Zotero experienced an error updating your document."

Hello,

I am unable to add a new citation or a bibliography to a new Microsoft Word Document. Whenever I try to do either, I get the follow error message from zotero:
"Zotero Integration Error
Zotero experienced an error updating your document.
Would you like to view troubleshooting instructions"

I have followed all the relevant instructions on this page to the best of my ability https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting
(The exception being restarting my computer, which I am reluctant to do because I am running code that takes several days to complete, an restarting would make me lose all progress)

I am using MacOS Big Sur version 11.5.1
MS word version 16.57
Zotero version 5.0.96.4

    No point in trying anything else before restarting your computer. It's the most basic troubleshooting step. You can work in LibreOffice or Google Docs in the meantime and move your document to Word later if you don't have a choice.

    (Also note that, while it's probably not relevant here, macOS 11.5.1 is quite a bit out of date, even for Big Sur.)

    Yes, to my chagrin restarting my computer worked. Oh well, time to restart that script.

    Thanks for the heads up about the software update too
