UpToDate Translator as Book Section

Hello! I'd love it if UpToDate topics could be saved as a citation for the topic instead of all embedded references. UpToDate recommends book-section type citations.

Is it possible for this to be implemented in the UpToDate translator?

I second this, except that with APA standards, UpToDate is considered a special sort of journal article that requires a retrieval date as well as the last updated date.
Right now I have to edit all the UpToDate imports.

You should ignore that part of the APA manual. It’s inconsistent with every other example. Instead save the stable URL for a specific version of an article. That will always go to the version you read, so a retrieval date isn’t necessary.

You'll have to adjust it manually then, I'm afraid. We're obviously not going to create a separate entry type for UpToDate because APA somehow thinks of it as a separate category of resource.

Yeah if I had my way here I'd be with you. I'm no shill for the APA, I just am unfortunately beholden to their system and have to use UpToDate. It'd be nice at least if UpToDate articles were recognized as journal articles instead of webpages, so the authors were imported. I can add the retrieval date myself but manually entering the correct title, authors, and publication title takes the longest. I think that'd probably be useful for most citation formats.

I think we can look at adding an option to include the UpToDate article to the translator, yes. We'd want to keep the option to import the references, which I think is cool/useful

Is this still on the horizon (adding the ability to cite the UpToDate article itself rather than import the references)? To be clear, the ability to import the references is *absolutely* cool and useful.
