compatibility 2.0a2 with 2.0b7.4 mac word

Howdy!

Updated to 2.0b7.4 a few weeks ago, spent a lot of time researching (and not writing up) and have just returned to spew out the latest draft chapter. Zotero steadfastly refuses to work in any way at all claiming incompatibility between 2.0a2 (which I assume is the mac word plug-in) and 2.0b7.4 (which, I guess, is the 'guts' of the operation).

Any ideas? if this is something that has been already explained then apologies- send me in the right direction and tell me sternly to pay more attention to the forum!

(oh, and why does a little 'rocket' pop up on my dock these days? it's very nice an' all but I do wonder about it sometimes!)

Cheers

Have exactly the same problem and tried the workaround suggested by Dan but no any luck!
This happened only after I upgraded to 2.0b7.4. i tried reinstalling the 3.0a6 add-on but it kept showing that "zotero Macword integration could not be installed because an error occur".
    Any new idea??

I guess the 3.0a6 plug-in is actually 2.0a2 but with a fake name "3.0a6" because when I do the insert in word 2008, it showed that "this version of the zotero word processor plugin (2.0a2) in incompatible with the currently installed cersion of the zotero firefox extension (2.0b7.4)".

By the way, I am running snowleopard on macbook pro with MS word 2008.

No, it's not. If you keep getting this message, you need to remove the old version completely and make sure it's gone from Word before trying to reinstall.

After doing that, if you still get an installation error, provide a Report ID.

Ok I think this really help. I just figured it out. Go to Documents/Microsoft User Data/Zotero delete all that within the zotero folder but keep the folder. uninstall zotero plug-in 3.0a6 in firefox then reinstall (it will asks you to re-open word in order to take effect). Finally, it will just be a magic! Thank Dan@@
  • Thanks Dan... I appreciate the response

I must be bumping along the bottom in the ability stakes a bit! I have uninstalled the Python Ex that was in the tools-add ons- extensions window and so now just have Zotero 2.0b74. I downloaded Pythonext 2.6.2 from the Zotero site but my machine says it can't open it... should I just drop it into my hard-drive or should it do something automatically?

Sorry to be such a dummy- my formative experiences of computer technology were with a VIC20 and an LCD screen donkey-kong... I guess, in some ways, in never moved on!

    Thanks for the help

  • Whoa there! Hold the phone... a colleague (a steadfast Oregonian and not a panic stricken Brit like me) has just taken me by the hand and walked me through the whole process... installation was the issue- I was downloading instead of installing!

All is working according to plan and according to Dan! (I owe you a couple of pints if you ever find your way to York- the Oregonian will get his too!)

    Cheers
