With the assistance of that, we can share the pdf from zotero and edit it in other apps like PDF Expert, which already supports edit files in place. We can have a more powerful pdf annotation tool and use zotero to sync the real pdf file.

dstillmanedited February 10, 2022We're not currently planning to support this. The app supports its own annotations, which sync seamlessly with the desktop app. Using externally created annotations would require syncing the file itself on every edit, which would be much slower and greatly increase the chance of file conflicts, particularly in group libraries. Those annotations also wouldn't be able to take advantage of current and future functionality in Zotero, such as annotation tags.
