Zotero is not importing .RIS files

I have .RIS files I obtained from Proquest and JSTOR but every time I try to import them to my library it says "The selected file is not in a supported format.". I opened the files and the format is correct. I have the newest Zotero version. Any ideas on how to fix this?
  • Can you provide a Debug ID for an import attempt?

(Also, just to be clear, if you're only saving small numbers of items, you should save from your web browser. You would only need to use RIS if you're importing large numbers of items or hitting site access limits.)

Saving from my browser does not import the metadata correctly. I am only importing one item. I do it as example because I teach how to use Zotero to my students.
  • Especially if you teach, though, you should teach using the Save to Zotero button, which is the default and almost always best way to get data into Zotero. What's wrong with the data you're getting from JSTOR, say?
  • @Sandra-Escalera: You appear to be missing a huge number of Zotero translators. That would also affect saving from the browser across many sites.

Reset your translators from the Advanced → Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences.
