New installation not changing Citation Style

I am migrating from one computer to another. I did a clean installation (version 5.0.96.3) and attempted a new item for a test. I selected APA 7 Style and inputted a book. I did Edit+preferences+citation+preferences - Selected APA 7. I then selected edit+Copy citation. But when I pasted the citation in Word. - it was in a different style - Name, title. The same happens with copy bibliography.
If I rt click + choose bibliography and then choose citation, I can then choose and copy the APA style.
I have tried different installations and syncing my old database from Zotero.org. as well as a direct copy.
I need help or I will need to migrate.
  • Edit+preferences+citation+preferences
This isn't an actual pane in the preferences, but if you're "selecting" a style in the Cite pane of the preferences, that doesn't do anything — that's just for managing installed styles. If you're trying to control the Quick Copy style, you configure that in the Export pane of the preferences.

Note that if you're using Word, we recommend using the word processor plugin unless you really only need to do a quick one-off bibliography.
  • Thank you very much. I changed the style in the export preference and this solved the problem. I was wanting this for in-text citations.
