Automatic doubling of author names etc.

Hey everybody,

in the last weeks there have been some entries, which I corrected with the right author names and all the other info I need. Then, after a day or so, some of the entries had info doubled automatically.
Does anybody know what kind of error this could be? I work with Windows on the desktop version of Zotero.
Thank you!
  • Doubled where? In Zotero itself or in a document in which you cited them?
  • In Zotero itself.
  • Well that certainly shouldn't happen. Could you check database integrity from the Zotero preferences under Advanced/Files and Folders?

Beyond that, @dstillman will need to look at this

  • I did and nothing happened - I hope that's what was supposed to happen.

When you say, "nothing happened", do you mean that the authors remain duplicated in each Zotero record? Does this happen with all of your Zotero records that you have recently hand-edited? Are the problem records from Emerald Group journals? Sometimes Emerald journals' metadata presents the full author list twice. That would mean that the doubled authors were correctly imported into Zotero but incorrectly presented metadata in the journal's webpage header, to the DOI, and in their RIS.
  • @DaphneDruba -- something should happen, but it takes some time, depending on the size of your database, the integrity check easily takes 5mins and can take 15+ and the button will appear greyed out in that time. If everything is OK, it ends with a pop-up notification that no issues have been found -- otherwise I believe the pop-up says there are issue and maybe offers to try to repair them (sorry, has been a while since I actually got an error).
  • @adamsmith, thanks, now it worked! The pop-up said there were no issues. @DWL-SDCA, no it didn't effect all of the records I edited and they were not from Emerald Group journals- they were rightly imported and only later on the author-entries were doubled.
