Date Added not used in Duplicate Items
in Dupl. Items the first choice to make is 'Choose the version of the item to use as the master item'. This usually works fine.
Apart from the fact that it always selects the oldest date from the Date Added-field. Even if I select the newest date. In that case all metadata from 'the newest' is used (oldest discarded), which is ok. Except for the Date Added-field: the oldest is used.
Is there a reason for this? For my use it's not preferable: if I choose the most recent metadata it makes sense that this is reflected in the most recent Date Added as well.

dstillmanBecause that's when you added the item to your library, which is what Date Added is for. You can edit an item's metadata at any time, and that's all you're doing when you choose a later version's metadata when merging.
