Spacebar not generating a space when editing. On a Mac and using Chrome

Hi, there hopefully something can help me on this one. If I go to add tags/notes to edit them, when I use the spacebar to move is space nothing happens. It does not create space but appears to jump to another document. I have reloaded the Zotero plug-in and quit and reinstalled, however, the problem still persists. TIA
