Automatically categorize papers

I am currently using Paperpile, but it's expensive for me and I would like to switch to another app.
One thing I was not able to find in any other alternative, Paperpile included, is an automatic way of categorizing papers (e.g., based on the keywords associated to each paper). I have a fairly large number of publications to move to Zotero and don't want to waste time on this task. Thank you.

What do you mean by “categorize”? By default Zotero will add keywords and subject headings as “automatic tags” when you save from the web, and you can use the tag selector to filter by those or create a saved search for a virtual collection. If you have existing tags on the items and they’re included in the export, Zotero should import them.
