I am unable to download a PDF using the Firefox connector, and the icon looks like a page, not a Z

I've tried to install the Firefox connector several times, but I never get the Z icon. It always looks like a page. (I had this problem with Safari too, but switched to Firefox, think it might be easier.) The debut output # is D1872827283.

It should look like a page, so that's correct. What URL are you trying this on?

It should work with anything you have access to. For JSTOR you have to manually accept the terms once, but then it should work without issues. If it doesn't, we'd want the full URL you're saving from exactly as you see it

I've been using it for another book project, so I accepted terms some time ago.

I should probably mention I work on a Mac and that the icon always appears grayed out, but still allows me to click on it.

What do you mean by "grayed out"? As adamsmith says, it should be a journal article icon, and it should say "Save to Zotero (JSTOR)" when you hover over it.

If it's a gray webpage icon and says "Save to Zotero (Web Page with Snapshot)" then something is wrong with your installation, and you should follow Troubleshooting Problems Saving to Zotero.
