Moving paragraphs within same document unlinks all citations

Hi folks, I'm writing for my comprehensives right now. 5 days left, and I'm encountering a brand new issue. I'm using google docs in edge, have the extension installed, desktop version 5.0.96.3. When I move a paragraph (highlight -> drag, not copy/paste) all my inline citations become unlinked. This has not happened before, as I frequently will move paragraphs or individual sentences around this way.

If anyone has a tip on how to fix this I'd appreciate it. Comprehensives are rough enough without having to alter my writing style.
  • Sorry, drag&drop has never worked in Google docs. Zotero isn't able to recognize the operation and ensure citations stay linked.
Only options are to use Ctrl+x/Ctrl+v or to use a different word processor
  • I could have sworn I've dragged and dropped in gDocs, but no matter. Does it work in word? I could also just copy/paste. For some reason I thought copy/paste was bad, but I guess I was confused.
  • Thanks for your reply, btw.
  • Pretty sure it works in Word, yes. Cut and paste works everywhere. Copy paste doesn't work in Libre Office
