Search item by title

Often, when I want to add an item to Zotero, I typically do this long process:
1. type the title in google
2. if I don't see any obvious link to the doi page, then I click on the arxiv link
3. then I click on "google scholar" on the right
4. then I click on the title in google scholar. It typically redirects me to the published version.
5. finally I can add it to Zotero.

However, it is a quite long process. I'd better just type the title in Zotero, and then Zotero should be able to query Crossref to get the DOI (emacs as a similar feature).

However, I can't find any way to do that in Zotero. Am I missing something?
  • No, but I don't understand why you're using such a convoluted workflow?

    1. Type/paste the title in google scholar
    2. Click on the first link
    3. Import into Zotero

That way you'll also get full text where it's available and you have access.
  • Yes sure. It's just that usually I'm a bit lazy to open google scholar and often google directly lists the page in which the paper is officially published. So in 3/4 of the times it's quicker that way. But you're right I should certainly add a shortcut/bookmark to search directly in google scholar.
  • Google scholar button add-on for your browser is what I would recommend
  • Oh, this add-on is super cool, thanks a lot!
