Zotero is very slow

Hello, good afternoon,
My PhD thesis is very big and Zotero is very slow.
I have already separated the Word file into several smaller files, but Zotero is still very slow.
I have a MacBook Pro, and I know that Zotero is slower than on Windows computers.
I plan to buy the latest 2021 MacBook Pro with the M1 Max processor, but I've been reading that there are some problems with Zotero working with the earlier M1 processors.
Do you think it will be better with the new Mac?
I will be very grateful for your answers and suggestions.
Best regards

  • It will definitely be faster with an M1 Mac. Zotero works fine on those
  • Hi bwiernik
    Thanks for your reply.
But I read that there was a conflict between Zotero and M1? Is it resolved?

There was never a conflict between M1 and Zotero. Briefly when the M1 first launched, there was a macOS bug that affected communication between Zotero and Word. Zotero implemented a workaround, and the underlying macOS bug has since been fixed by Apple.

    Edit: Fixed bug history details
  • Hi bwiernik
Thank you very much for your reply.
    It was very clear.
    I will upgrade.
    Thanks again.
  • (Credit/blame where it's due, there was primarily a macOS bug, which we worked around immediately and Apple later fixed.)
  • Ok dstillman, that's clear to me.
    Thanks for your comment.
