Management Style Request: Administrative Science Quarterly

Following the advice here: http://www.zotero.org/support/requesting_styles

In this post I will provide links to the desired style guide and the source style guide on which I believe it is based. If other folks care enough to help out, they can jump in and help to identify/analyze the differences between the journal's style and the source style.

From what I understand, someone else might eventually come along and create the style document from our efforts.

  • Hi all.

I also need this style but am not quite competent enough to make the changes myself (trust me, I tried) . I've listed the primary differences between APA and Administrative Science Quarterly (ASQ) below. I'm happy to try it myself again if people can direct me to the right parts of the code (I downloaded TextWrangler and everything!), but would be just as happy if it magically appeared.

Thanks in advance for any help!

To alter APA style to match the requirements of Administrative Science Quarterly (ASQ):
    Bibiliography:
Put a carriage return between the author(s) and date
Remove parentheses from around the date and the period after it
Put quotation marks around the titles of articles and book sections
Eliminate italics for book and journal titles/issues (in fact, eliminate ALL italics)
For journal articles, put a colon (instead of a comma) after the volume number/before page numbers
For book sections, put a colon after the book title/before page numbers
Remove “pp.” preceding page numbers for book sections or anything else with this abbreviation
Remove the issue number and parentheses following the journal volume number

    In-text citations
Arrange citations chronologically, from oldest to newest, rather than alphabetically

    Samples:

    ASQ Journal Article:
    Haidt, J., S. Koller, and M. Dias
1993 "Affect, culture, and morality, or is it wrong to eat your dog?" Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 65: 613–628.

    ASQ Book Section:
    Burt, R. S.
2000 "The network structure of social capital." In B. M. Staw and R. I. Sutton (eds.), Research in Organizational Behavior, 22: 345–423. New York: Elsevier/JAI.

    ASQ Book:
    Glaser, B.
1992 Basics of Grounded Theory Analysis. Mill Valley, CA: Sociology Press.
  • it's bookmarked but will take some time.
  • Thanks Adam!
  • OK, the style is now uploaded and will show up on the repository shortly. Any issues please post here.
(One thing I can't do is to get the line spacing 100% right - the style currently inserts a line between different works by the same author that can't be prevented.)
  • Thanks so much! This is great!
