Management Style Request: Strategic Management Journal
Following the advice here: http://www.zotero.org/support/requesting_styles
In this post I will provide links to the desired style guide and the source style guide on which I believe it is based. If other folks care enough to help out, they can jump in and help to identify/analyze the differences between the journal's style and the source style.
From what I understand, someone else might eventually come along and create the style document from our efforts.

Based on the APA style?

Even 2 1/2 years back, the instructions for requesting articles
(which are now here: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/wiki/Requesting-Styles ) included the requirement of a list of differences to an existing style.
As that page notes, finding a similar style has since become much easier, due to this:
http://steveridout.com/csl/searchByExample/
and you may even find that the visual editor on that site allows you to make the needed changes yourself.

There are a few issues, e.g.,
- the ampersand in front of the last author can be dropped
- the full stop following the abbreviation of the authors' first names can be dropped
- the journal volume needs to be bolded
However, this .csl version is a nice starting point. Thanks again.
I've created a folder in my library with a number of references. I would now like to create a bibliography to paste it into a conference presentation. I then right-click the collection and hit 'Create bibliography from collection'. Next, I choose the SMJ style. Zotero then produces the following error message (in German):
"Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten bei dem Versuch, das Literaturverzeichnis zu erstellen. Bitte erneut versuchen"
I think it's to do with the SMJ style as I've tried creating bibliographies in a number of other styles, all of which worked just fine. Any idea what causes this problem?
Then, instead of right-clicking on the collection, could you just select the collection on the left and then select all (ctrl+a) in the middle column --> right-click --> Create bibliography from selected items.
If that doesn't work, please provide an error report ID right after getting that error:

I know I can change this easily, but both the APA and AMR styles have those features.
The style is now fixed, with some other small fixes like et al in italics.
The updated version will appear on the repository within 30mins (check the timestamp). Update your copy of the style by clicking "Update Now" in the General tab of the Zotero preferences.
Styles also update automatically within 24hs for Zotero 4.0+
In an existing document, you may have to switch to a different style and back for the changes to take effect once the style is updated.
Any further problems please let us know & thanks for reporting
My apologies, I stand corrected. Once I switched to another style, and then back, the hanging indent is now there. Thanks,
I found another item that needs to be fixed. Per SMJ guidelines
"... Three or fewer authors should be written out at the first text citation and et al. used thereafter (italicize et al., whenever used)."
The current style does not make the use of "et al" after the first citation when three authors or two authors are used.
