Problem with new WebDAV support for Zotero iOS

Documents can be downloaded from windows computer to ipad through webdav, but the modified files on ipad cannot be synchronized to computer, and after downloading to ipad, after the same document is modified on the computer, ipad will not be updated synchronously.

What do you mean by "modified files on ipad"? You can't modify files within Zotero.

If you're talking about annotating in the PDF reader, that's separate from the file itself, and those annotations would show up in the built-in PDF reader in the Zotero desktop beta.

Yes,I mean annotate the PDF.Such as the highlight of some sentences in the PDF files ,they won't be synchronized back to the PDF files in the computer.

Right, you're not viewing the PDF in the built-in PDF reader in the Zotero desktop beta.

So the PDF file won't sync to the ipad when it has been changed on the desktop once it has been download to the ipad.And it won't sync to the desktop when changed on the ipad.Right?

1) Annotations made in the built-in reader in the desktop app will sync with the reader in the iOS app, and vice versa. Those aren't stored in the file, so they won't show up in other readers (though they can be transferred to the file later if you want).

2) If you use an external PDF reader that actually saves changes back to the file, such that the file is modified, the file will sync as it always has in Zotero. But those annotations will be read-only in both built-in PDF readers.

Is there any plan to make an option for where to store the annotations made with the built in desktop and iOS PDF reader: as metadata, as it currently seems to be done, or directly in the file, so that other readers can also see them?
I know it's possible to do File -> Store annotations in File, but I'm asking about a parameter that would say which of the two behaviors to adopt by default.

The choice of annotations as metadata is definitely convincing!

I guess I'll have to get used to the new workflow of working entirely in Zotero, but so far, it seems pretty nice :)
