Change available options in a field related to a particular record type

I'm trying to enter a translator for a blog post, but that item type does not allow it. If I enter someone as a translator and then change the type, it changes their creator type to "contributor." I looked for general instructions on changing the available options in any field in relationship to item types, but couldn't locate anything. Thanks so much!

You can add a translator to Extra like this:

Translator: Last || First A.

That will get picked up in citations

Thank you! But is there any way to adjust the available options in the drop down menus in the creator fields (for blog post or any other record type).
