My Library - uncategoried

I have a list of references from a diverse range of unrelated subjects. I find it useful to separate these references into folders. Unfortunately, I cannot tell which of my references that display in "My Library" have not also been pulled into a specific folder.

It would be helpful if there was an additional folder called "unsorted" which automatically listed only those references that were not in a folder, to aid in deciding what needs to be sorted out.
  • not sure why this isn't moving along, apparently harder to program than it seems - this has been discussed repeatedly since at least 2007

  • This reminded me that I have a bunch of orphans in my own library, and lack the discipline to protect against their proliferation. I've written a small, rough script that can be used to identify orphan items, if you know your way around database basics, are very careful, and have Python installed. It's available on zotero-dev in the files area, under the name "zorphan.py".
