Run-time error '5'" Invalid procedure call or argument

As of 11/02/2021 I started receiving this error message in Word whenever I try to add a citation or bibliography. The "continue" and "debug" buttons are greyed out. I am running Word 16.54 on a MacBook Pro.

Zotero does not produce an error message. It appears to be a problem in Word that just started.

I have a book manuscript near completion and all of my bibliographic data is in Zotero. Help!

    I installed the Beta version and I can add citations and bibliographies. Whew. But the "Refresh" Button doesn't seem to work.

    In what way doesn't Refresh work?

    In a large document, Refresh could take a while.

    After starting and restarting several times (?) I can now "refresh." Previously I was selecting the Refresh button and nothing would happen. I'm hoping the Beta version will continue to play nice with Word for the Mac.
