HELP - MLA in-text citation with no author but has translator

i am trying to cite Beowulf in-text in MLA. There i snow author but there is a translator. I thought the citation would be short title in italics plus a page number. instead th translators last name appears.

is this correct?

As a side note APA style indeed creates the citation as short title plus page number

I'm not sure and I couldn't find anything clear online -- I think have MLA 8 in the office and my understanding is it hasn't substantially changed to MLA 9.
(FWIW, for the 6th edition, the rule was "If, instead of authors, the names of editors, translators or compilers appear on the title pages, their names should be listed" So that'd definitely be (Heaney) if you're citing something like https://www.amazon.com/Beowulf-New-Verse-Translation-Bilingual/dp/0393320979, but it's possible they changed this.
