how does one add reference information to a snapshot?

I can't figure out how to add bibliographical information to snapshots that I take of webpages. How does one call up the author, title, etc. fields? I do see that there is a "Create New Item from Current Page" option, but that doesn't actually save a snapshot to the Zotero folder. So as far as I can tell the functions of saving the snapshot and that of creating a complete bibliographical entry are split. Is this right? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a straightforward way to join these functions? Thanks!

    "Create New Item from Current Page" saves a snapshot under the item if the "Automatically take snapshots when creating items from web pages" preference is enabled. You can also drag snapshots over existing web page items to attach them.
