Zotero crashing Word

I am using Zotero version 5.0.97-beta.46+4cfa23050 and Microsoft Word for Mac version 16.53 (on a MacBook Air with M1 chip). When I try to add a new citation with the Zotero plugin, it crashes Word. I was not having this issue yesterday and I haven't updated anything since then. Restarting my computer did not help. Any advice??

    I have the exact same problem. I updated Zotero about an hour ago, and since then it crashes Word every time I try to add a citation with the plugin. Please help!

    Nothing has changed regarding word processor integration in Zotero in a while.

    Make sure you're running the latest version of macOS. Earlier versions of Big Sur had some bugs on M1 systems.
