Metadata for Zotero

Hello Zotero users and experts,

I was wondering where is Zotero's source of parent metadata?

    In most instances it comes from CrossRef (DOIs) or various library catalogs (ISBNs).
    As a fallback, Zotero extracts basic metadata from the PDF text and I believe matches that against internal data -- those results are much less good; the exact code for that is no longer online. The source of metadata used is listed under "Library Catalog" in the metadata entry.
