Portable Issue Again

My scenario is this:
Work Pc 1: Win XP (Internet)
Work Laptop2: Ubuntu (No Internet)

That makes me no candidate for the sync option and neither one for the Firefox to go.

It would be so awesome if I could store my Zotero library on a USB stick, put the path somewhere in the Options and use it without all the back and forth exporting.

Any alternative suggestions?

you should be able to do this: If you point both of the zotero storage locations to your USB stick and never forget to put the stick in before starting zotero that should work.
That option is in the advanced tab of the preferences.
Or am I overlooking something?
