Beta version has a conflict with better bibtex

I installed the 5.0.97-beta.39+dea4a47b6 plus the latest version of Better Bibtex. However, the version does not work. The add-on can be successfully installed, but at the preference page, the settings including the "citation key format" are always reset to blank every time the preference paged is "ok"ed and closed. I cannot set up better bibtex for auto export and manually export. Reinstallation of Zotero (beta and the original version) and add-on do not fix the problem

I am a dense user of Zotero together with rmarkdown, which means the better bibtex, and the problem messes up my working flow severely. Any suggestion would be helpful!
