Defining the reference source

It would be really nice if a future update of Zotero would include the possibility of selecting 'Web portal' when you define the reference source. I really miss this option ...!

  • Is that meaningfully different from a webpage in terms of citation?
  • 'Webpage' is not an option in the Danish version I use. In Danish that would be 'Webside' or 'hjemmeside'. Technically, there is a difference between a webpage and a webportal, as the latter contains a number of the former. With regard to reference there is a difference between referring to a whole site or a specific page on a site – and sometimes this difference is relevant.

In Danish a 'web portal' (English) would be the same, only written in one word, i.e. 'webportal'.

There's only one version of Zotero, no matter what locale you're using, and there's certainly a "Web Page" item type — it's "Web-side" in the Danish locale. It just isn't shown in the New Item menu, because that's not how you should create webpage items:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/adding_items_to_zotero#manually_adding_items

There are no plans to add an option to cite an entire website.
