Segregating type of source within Bibliography

I need to separate primary and secondary sources and within each of those categories I need to separately list manuscripts, books, articles etc as appropriate. I can't find any advice on how to get Zotero to do this. Can anyone help?
  • See e.g. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/127355/#Comment_127355 for sorting by item types. If the distinction between primary and secondary materials isn't by item type, this is harder. Note that this just handles sorting. You'll have to manually create and label sections.
  • I'm pretty sure you cannot do so (but I don't work for Zotero so maybe there is some workaround I don't know about). As far as I know, of all the different reference manager programs, only EndNote allows you do that (and it is pretty buggy).

When I have this need (with legal material) I either:

    a) Insert all sources as one bibliography (the only option) then after unlinking manually move them around into separate lists.

    b) Insert them as a regular text independent of Zotero.

Neither is ideal for your needs obviously.
