Ability to decide which types of attachments are stored in Zotero storage

It would be useful if I could have some control over which file types are uploaded to the Zotero file storage. I've managed to use up a signficant chunck of my initial 100Mb with a couple of large MP3 files. I'd happily mark MP3s as files not to synch.
Thanks for a fantastic tool!

  • Any reason not to just link to those files, rather than to store copies of them in Zotero?
  • None at all. Good point!
    Thanks,

  • However, I would like to second that initial wish.

I had the same problem with PDF's. I'd be happy to have my notes and my .txt attachments synchronized, but some huge PDF's attached would fill my web space.
I'd be happy to check them off as "don't sync pdf's".

And why would I wish to attach them, rather than to link them? (I have used that solution with some huge facsimile .jpg's): I love the feature of Zotero that it indexes PDF's and you can search them within.
  • Notes that are zotero items are stored in the database (and not separate files), you have 100 MB of free storage, and Zotero will let you index linked PDFs.
  • Ok, I didn't get that so far (indexing of linked, not copied attachments). Nice feat!
