French APA style, but numeric, superscript (and not author-date)

Hi,

I'm looking for a french APA zotero style, like the following one (French APA 6th edition style): https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:universite-de-montreal-apa.

However, instead of having in-text citations be (author-date), I would like them to be numeric, superscript, like this english APA 7th edition style: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:apa-numeric-superscript&format=numeric, but in french. In other words, having my in-text citations be numbered, like: "Depression is rising1". The numbers would be under the form of an exposant however (I cannot reproduce it here though), juste like the english APA 7th edition style above.

Apa 7th edition would be great, but I believe it doesn't exist yet in french, so it would still be great to have the french APA 6th edition above from University of Montreal, but numeric, superscript.

So to resume: a french APA style (6 or 7th edition), but numeric, superscript!

If you need any more specific details, do not hesitate!

Thank you very much!

Remi PB.
  • You can set the style you linked to to use French in the Document Preferences window in the Zotero tab in Word
  • Hi bwiernik,

    Thank you for your answer!

I actually can change different zotero styles to use in word in the way you are describing.

The issue I have is that a French APA style that is numeric, superscript doesn't seem to exist.

I can only choose either French APA style that is author-date for in-text citations, or English APA style that can be numeric, superscript.

But it seems that I cannot find a French APA style that is numeric, superscript.

So i'm wondering if there is an easy way to modify the existing French APA style that is author-date to change it so it is numeric, superscript for in-text citations?

Any idea? Am I explaining it clearly?

    Thank you very much!

As bwiernik says, you can set the language to use from the Document Preferences window. You don't need a French-specific style. Most Zotero styles are automatically localized.
  • Hi dstillman,

    Thank you for your answer!

However, there is maybe something that I do not understand.

The thing is, the way references are created with the regular english APA style, like this one: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:apa-6th-edition&format=author-date, is not the same way the french APA style creates them, like this one: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:universite-de-montreal-apa&format=author-date.

With french APA, the reference will look something like:
Aarons, G. A., Hurlburt, M. et Horwitz, S. M. (2011). Advancing a conceptual model of evidence-based practice implementation in public service sectors. Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, 38(1), 4‑23. doi: 10.1007/s10488-010-0327-7

Whereas for english APA, it will look something like:
Aarons, G. A., Hurlburt, M., & Horwitz, S. M. (2011). Advancing a Conceptual Model of Evidence-Based Practice Implementation in Public Service Sectors. Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, 38(1), 4‑23. doi: 10.1007/s10488-010-0327-7

Notice, for instance, the "et" for the last author (french APA) instead of the comma and the "&" for english APA, as well as the capital letters of the title for english APA, but not for french APA.

These are minor differences, but there are some other differences too, for instance for book chapters.

This is why I'm trying to find a french APA style so that the way references are created respect french APA rules (which are different than english APA rules).

Moreover, I'm looking for a french APA zotero style (like this one https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:universite-de-montreal-apa&format=author-date), but instead of having it be author-date, I would like to have it be numeric, superscript. This style doesn't seem to exist and I'm wondering how to modify a zotero style to change it from author-date to numeric, superscript.

Maybe there is something I do not understand, but just changing the language from the document preferences window doesn't seem to help me get from an author-date style to a numeric, superscript style.

    Am-I missing something here?

Thank you very much in advance!
