Accessing highlighted & annotated PDFs from different computers
Dear all,
I'm new to Zotero. I work with two computers - one at work and one at home. The data directory on my work computer is saved on a server that I can access through VPN from every computer, while the data directory on my personal computer is saved in some folder in 'My documents'.
I like to highlight text and take notes on my PDFs while reading them. However, as the annotated PDFs are not saved at the same place depending on whether I work at home or at the office, I find myself with some PDFs annotated in a folder, some not, which is far from practical. I thought about storing data from both computers on the same server that I access through VPN, but I'm not sure this is advisable. Any clue?
Many thanks!

favoJust a little clarification: data syncing and file syncing are on, so I would have expected changes made from one computer to be automatically applied to the other synced computer.

bwiernikAre you using Zotero’s built in PDF reader in the beta release, or an external pdf app? If you are using Adobe Acrobat, note that that program’s default behavior is to save a new copy of the file in Adobe’s cloud folder, rather than saving the file in its original location. That might be what you are seeing. Disable that in the Adobe settings. If you modify the original file, Zotero will sync those changes. You can check if the original file is modified by right clicking on the attachment item in Zotero and choosing Open File Location.
