Zotero won't add one of my citations

I am using a MacBook Pro and Word to write a document. I am not very tech-savvy, but Zotero has been quite easy for me to navigate. I have been able to add citations using the Zotero tab in my Word document. I can't get one of my references to add to my document, however. I can see the reference in my Zotero list, but it shows up as the red PDF symbol instead of the file-looking symbol that the rest of my references have. Is there a way to get Zotero to add this reference as a citation in my document? Thank you in advance!

It sounds like you just have a standalone attachment, which you can't cite. You need an actual bibliographic item.
