Yandex Webdav login problem

Dear friends,

Is anyone using Yandex as a WebDAV service?

Here:

https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/webdav_services

it says that the proper url to fill in in the sync preferences is https://webdav.yandex.com/zotero.

(with the 'zotero' part already filled in)

However, when I verify the server it will not accept my username and password (they work just fine when I log on online or in the desktop app of Yandex disk).

The error message is:

'The WebDAV-server has refused your username and password.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Valentijn

  • Not heard any previous reports of this.

What exactly are you entering in the URL field?
  • Hi,

Thanks for your response. I entered:

    webdav.yandex.com

Actually, I just created a new (empty) account on Yandex for you to try:

The usrnm and pw are ZoteroLogin and Zotero1

I'd be curious to know whether you manage to connect to this account via webDAV.

I will erase the account again once the problem is resolved.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Valentijn

  • By the way, the reason I chose Yandex Disk because it is the only webdav service I am aware of that offers 10 GB of free storage. pCloud offers only 5 GB at the moment (although they initially suggest otherwise). If anyone knows of another service offering 10 GB or more, I would gladly sync my zotero files with that instead.

    Thanks,

    Valentijn

  • It just crossed my mind: could the problem be that the Zotero beta release I am currently using does not support syncing via webDAV yet? That would explain things....
  • Nothing has changed with regard to WebDAV in the desktop app in years. If you're having a problem, it's with the WebDAV provider.
  • Creat a app password for zotero, in Yandex disk settings.

Consider using another Webdav service rather than Yandex, in times of war....
  • This is really an issue. For several technical reasons I work more and more with Yandex, especially due to its AI services and low costs spaces.

I have the same issues with connecting Yandex to Zotero. But I found some instruction on creating specific passwords for WebDav in Yandex: https://yandex.com/support/id/authorization/app-passwords.html by adding it here:
    https://id.yandex.com/security/app-passwords

Now, I have no longer the message telling my that my user or password is wrong. Now it says:
This webdav.yandex.ru page can’t be found
No webpage was found for the web address https://webdav.yandex.ru/zotero

    Reload
    HTTP ERROR 404

I would also be most thankful if anybody knows how to solve this issue.
