feature request: bulk delete attachments

I would like to request the ability to bulk delete all attachments from selected items or from a collection.
(Yes, I am aware of the ability to turn off syncing or not automatically attach PDFs, this is not the same.) My purpose is to manage short-term research within Zotero and maintain the citations here, but I use another solution for long-term PDF storage and don't wish to maintain duplicate storage. I'm looking at over 1100 attachments to delete, so manual is not an ideal solution.
  • You can construct any search that matches the attachments and then use Select All to select the matching items and delete them. E.g., search for "Full Text PDF" in the quick search bar in All Fields & Tags mode, or create an advanced search for [Attachment File Type] [is] [PDF] and then save it as a saved search.

You probably know this, but if you don't want to save files going forward you can turn that off from the General pane of the preferences.
  • @dstillman Yes, that could be done. However, instead of this convoluted walkaround, it would be very convenient to just select a bunch of items and right-click them and have "Delete Attachments" on the context menu.

No, I do not want to turn off attachments saving. No, I do not want to turn off syncing. Yes, I want to manage my attachments in bulk more conveniently. Thank you.

You can delete attachments (alone) from multiple selected items via the right-click context menu with the delitemwithatt plugin (also works for linked attachment files, which Zotero does not delete).
