New PDF reader bug

I have detected a problem with the PDF reader, which I presume may be a bug. The figures of the following reference are not displayed correctly: 1/4 of a black circle appears in the upper left corner of each figure. If I open the same file with Acrobat Reader, I don't see any problem.

@warguelles Could you provide screenshots of specific PDF part that is rendered incorrectly and also the correct version of it.

These quarter black circles appear in ALL figures of this document.

I only came across this problem within this journal in a few years around 2015. Maybe that can help you.

@warguelles I can't reproduce this, at least with the file that I can access. You could send the specific file to support@zotero.org also referencing this thread.

Could you test if that happens on other computers? Also if that happens when opening the PDF file with https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html ?

Yes, the same happens when I open them with Firefox, but not with chromium based browsers like Google Chrome or Edge.

@warguelles Thanks. But I still can't reproduce this. Could you test if the issue appears on another computer? There is a chance this is related with your hardware/OS/drivers.

@martynas_b Yes, I tested with the PC of my wife... The same as with mine! :(

@warguelles It might just be a guess, but it can be this issue. Could you download and test the mentioned PDF file and tell us if you see the wrong one, or the correct one screenshot?

Next, you can try going to Zotero Preferences->Advanced->Config Editor and setting layers.acceleration.disabled to true.

I also experience these same black circles. I have modern hardware (5800X, RTX 3080) with acceleration on. I find that 1/4 black circles appear on every image embedded within a PDF file preview. Every single one, no matter the PDF. I'd prefer to use my hardware's acceleration, rather than disabling it... but I will if that's the only way to fix this.

This is fixed in the Zotero 7 beta.
