Word won't cite certain documents

When I got to 'Add/Edit Citation' in my Word document (I use a Mac), for some PDF reports I have saved in Zotero, it just doesn't find them even though they are listed there. How do I make it find and cite them?

Thank you - I've been struggling with this for a while... Alison
  • Make sure you have actual bibliographic parent items in the library, not just PDF attachments.

From Adding PDFs and Other Files:
If Zotero isn't able to retrieve high-quality metadata for a PDF, you can save a bibliographic item using the Save to Zotero button in your browser and drag the PDF onto the new item (if a PDF wasn't already attached automatically), or you can right-click on the PDF, choose Create Parent Item, and enter an identifier such as a DOI or ISBN. If all else fails, you can create an empty parent item and enter metadata manually.
  • Oh wow thank you, I feel that I am a very basic user compared to most people on here, and assumed there must be something basic I was missing. I will give this a try now!
