Can't open in MacBook

I'm getting the following error:

"This Zotero database requires Zotero 5.0.97-beta.1+586a6f1dd or later.

Current version: 5.0.96.2"

I just updated the program to whatever is the most current option on their website so I'm not sure how to solve this...

You installed the Zotero beta. As the beta page says, you can't always switch back to the current release version after running the beta, and that's true at the moment.

Install the latest beta (which includes the new PDF reader and note editor) from the above link and it will work. There's also an automatic backup of your database from before the upgrade in your Zotero data directory that you could use if you wanted to switch back to the release version. See Restoring From the Last Upgrade Backup for instructions.
