Zotero desktop application won't open -- error / failure code 0x80520005

Hi all -

I am suddenly unable to open the Zotero desktop application on my MacBook Pro running MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3. I get the error message posted below.

The error window has two options: "quit" and "check for update." I updated Zotero and then got the same error message. I then re-downloaded Zotero and replaced the application, and still got the error message.

I'm assuming it's looking for a file related to Chrome and not finding it? Do I need to somehow delete / reset support / preference / auxiliary files?
