Is there a way to change uploaded file to journal article?

I uploaded a pdf documented and cited that pdf in my paper draft. But when i want to make it a formal citation, i found out that a uploaded file can not change to a journal article.
Is there a workaround or i have to manually replace every citation in my paper?

You need to cite full bibliographic items, not attachment items. If you inserted attachment items (which shouldn't even really be allowed, though it may be in some modes now), you'll need to replace them after creating proper parent items (right-click → Create Parent Item, assuming metadata wasn't automatically retrieved for the PDF).
