Can a non-Zotero user add references that can be recognized by Zotero?

If someone who does not use Zotero wants to add references to a Word document, which already has references added via Zotero, is there a way that the non-Zotero user can somehow embed references into the text so that it can be recognized by Zotero?

    No.

    Easiest would probably be for them to just leave notes in a consistent format that you can search for and replace with proper citations.
