Avoid duplicated PDF attachments when copying entries from personal to group library
Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to copy entries from my personal library to a group library, without duplicating the attached files. Please, consider the following scenario:
Under "File Syncing", I selected "Sync attachment files in My Library using Zotero" and "Sync attachment files in group libraries using Zotero storage". Furthermore, I have ZotFile installed.
Suppose that I have an entry in my personal library, and it has a PDF file attached. The PDF is stored in the following path: C:\Users\user\Zotero\storage\6G8HWMMP. Now, I want to copy the entry to a group library, so I drag it and drop it and the entry now appears inside the group library. Nevertheless, the copied entry has a different PDF file attached, stored at C:\Users\user\Zotero\storage\YG9HTWGQ. We have duplicated PDF files: one for my personal library and other for the group library.
Of course, if I need to copy several entries to a group library, I will end up with several duplicated PDFs, which will occupy a lot of space on my hard drive (and Zotero storage). Moreover, I assume that if I start making annotations on my personal library's files, such updates are not going to be reflected on the group library's copies and vice versa. What a mess!
Can you help me with this issue?
Thank you very much!

Upgrade Storage
An upcoming version of Zotero will let you configure a number of days to cache local files for when using "download as needed" mode so that you don't need to keep all files on your local disk. In the meantime, if the file has been uploaded, you can right-click → Show File and delete the local copy. (But the upcoming version will verify that the file has been uploaded before deleting it, so it will be a bit safer than that.) The alternative, where any annotation you made in your personal library suddenly showed up to anyone who was a member of any groups you were in, would be far more dangerous. Better ways of transferring data between libraries are planned, but we can't default to exposing people's personal data to all groups they belong to.
Thank you again.
