Attach files linked to in 'file' field of bibtex database

I have a .bib file with a number of entries. Each one of them has a 'file' field containing a path to the associated PDF. After importing from that file to Zotero, though, none of the files appear as attachments. (The 'file' field isn't even showing on the 'Info' tab of the 'Item' pane.) Is this the expected behavior? If so, is there a way to automatically attach all files to their corresponding entries?

Files should appear as attachments in the middle column under the imported entry; Zotero does not have a file field.

Files listed in a file field in the bib file you're importing should be imported into Zotero automatically. We'd need to see a sample of the bib file you are trying to import to see what might be wrong.
